What is biomed?

A knitted brain growing like a tree, its green roots reaching down into a knitted gut, with a child’s hand resting on it

Biomedical care looks inside the body for the reasons behind your child’s symptoms, then treats them directly and safely, without medications.

Not a trend. A movement.

Biomed is not general functional medicine.

It’s care focused on children with autism, built over decades by a movement of parents and doctors who never stopped asking questions. When you hear “biomed,” this is what it means.

  1. 1967

Dr. Bernard Rimland, a parent himself, founds the Autism Research Institute.

  2. 1995

DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) brings doctors together to share what they are learning.

  3. 2012

MedMaps begins training the next generation of doctors.

  4. 2026

MedMaps doctors now have a seat at the table on the IACC (Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee), the federal autism committee, and its chair is a MedMaps Fellow.

  1. You share where things stand.

Your child’s story, from pregnancy to today, in your own words.

  2. You talk it through.

Together, you and Dr. Angela look at what you’re seeing at home and what the body may be telling you.

  3. You leave with a clear next step.

A thoughtful plan, so you know exactly where to begin.
